Nesli Karakan Can
MA
I received my master’s degree in counseling and am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counselor Education at Ohio University. I specialize in working with children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADD/ADHD, learning disabilities, and developmental delays. With over fifteen years of experience supporting neurodiverse individuals and their families, I use a culturally sensitive, collaborative approach to foster growth, trust, and empowerment.
My counseling philosophy is grounded in empathy and respect for each client’s unique experiences. I believe that every child and adolescent deserve to be seen, heard, and supported as a whole. Whether addressing emotional challenges, behavioral concerns, or academic stressors, I strive to create a safe and inclusive space where clients and their families feel understood and valued.
With a strong foundation in working with families of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as neurodevelopmental disorders for over a decade, I am also deeply committed to supporting parents, caregivers, and families. I recognize the complex and often emotional journey that families experience and aim to provide compassionate, individualized guidance to help them navigate these unique challenges. I believe that empathy and personalized care are key to building trust and fostering meaningful relationships within the counseling process.
I am passionate about helping children and young people develop the social, emotional, and academic skills they need to thrive. Through individualized counseling, I support clients in discovering their strengths, building self-confidence, and navigating the world around them with greater ease and resilience.
