Melissa Howard

LPC, LPMT, NCC, MT-BC

I work with individuals, couples, and groups and have experience working with all ages. I work
with adults and children who struggle with anxiety and adjustment through life’s changes. I also
provide counseling around perinatal issues and bereavement. I base my practice in a person-
centered approach to therapy, but I also utilize CBT, DBT, and Reality therapy. I recognize
everyone brings something unique to our sessions and it is important to honor individual needs
by providing a variety of tools.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University for Music therapy. I completed my
internship for music therapy at UIC Medical Center in Chicago, working in mental health and
medical music therapy. I hold a Masters in Clinical Counseling from Governors State
University, a certificate as a Birth and Bereavement Doula, and am a level 2 Reiki clinician. I
have worked in mental health and wellness as a music therapist since 2007. I have also worked in
adult and pediatric hospice and senior wellness.  I truly believe in the power of play and utilize a
child centered play therapy model when working with children ages 3-10.

I am available for Telehealth and in-person sessions in Homer Glen and Beverly.
