Joan Slawinski

LCPC

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor with over 10 years of experience in inpatient and outpatient settings. I obtained my Masters Degree at Governors State University. I have done group work for court order DUI clients as well as worked in a Partial Hospitalization Program/Intensive Outpatient program, and Private Practice which have included group work, family sessions and individual therapy. I have used several treatment modalities such as CBT, DBT, Relapse Prevention, Relaxation, Mindfulness and Meditation.

My manner in therapy is approachable and down-to-earth. Making the decision to reach out for help when we are struggling emotionally can be challenging and even a little scary. For most of us, however, there comes a time when the difficulties we are facing gives us the courage to begin the search for change and healing. Finding the right therapist can be a crucial aspect of this journey. The therapist you select needs to be someone who helps you feel comfortable, accepted, connected, and understood. Clients find me to be warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental while creating an effective and safe therapeutic environment.

I specialize in mood disorders, anxiety, and substance abuse and I treat adults ages eighteen and over. My goal is to help you find peace and support you on your own journey to face the challenges you are facing, and I will meet you where you are. My primary location for therapy will be at the Homer Glen location. I look forward to hearing from you.
