Cynthia Staples

MA, LPC, NCC

My name is Cynthia Staples, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) in the state of Illinois. I earned my master’s degree in counseling in 2006 and a second master’s degree in communication in 2016. In addition, I bring more than 20 years of experience helping individuals navigate career development, life transitions, and personal growth.

Prior to joining Beyond Healing, I practiced at Winds of Change, LLC, where I received training in several evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Therapy. My counseling philosophy is rooted in the belief that individuals possess an inherent capacity for growth, healing, and self-discovery. Often, with support, guidance, and a safe space for reflection, people are able to access the wisdom and strengths they already hold within themselves.

I view learning and personal growth as lifelong journeys. Alongside my formal counseling training, I have studied Intertribal Native American spiritual teachings rooted in nature since the age of fourteen and have more than forty years of experience with these traditions. Raised in the Catholic faith, I deeply respect the role that spirituality, religion, and personal belief systems can play in healing. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and am comfortable incorporating spiritual or faith-based perspectives into counseling when desired by the client.

My additional training includes Reiki through the Master level, as well as participation in various spiritual, educational, and personal growth programs. While my counseling practice remains grounded in professional ethics and evidence-based approaches, I honor the diverse ways individuals seek meaning, connection, and healing in their lives.

Above all, I strive to provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered. My goal is to help individuals identify their strengths, navigate life’s challenges, develop greater self-awareness, and cultivate self-acceptance.

I believe that every person has the capacity not only to survive difficult circumstances, but to thrive.
