Jen Baffi
LPC, Board-Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC)
There are times in life that one’s feelings are beyond words. Those times when it feels difficult to strive for understanding and feel heard. It is my privilege to create a safe place to honor these feelings and process them in a non-judgmental way. Through this process, I help clients express themselves in a creative and healthy way to transcend obstacles and lead more fulfilling and rich lives.
I offer a gestalt-based, client-centered approach, creating an environment where mindfulness is explored and introduced to further the therapeutic experience. I will facilitate creating a strong connection with the “here and now”. This process is utilized to emphasize and focus on the present for better understanding. Through better understanding and awareness of our current thoughts and feelings, we can explore and apply areas of growth and expand personal understanding.
Within the therapeutic space, I utilize Gestalt theory, Existential theory, Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and Art Therapy. The incorporation of art therapy allows every individual the invitation to express themselves without judgment with the solace of knowing the directives’ goal, focusing on the process and not the product. This means only being able to draw a stick figure is no need to worry, it’s not about artistic ability.
I’ve completed my master’s at Adler University where one of the core values that aligned deeply with me is to honor and respect everyone’s unique background, culture, and upbringing. This training allowed me to gain a new perspective on each client and the rich tapestry of history they bring into the therapeutic space.
